Janna McAllister had thought coming back to Snow Canyon Ranch was a good idea—a fresh start for her and her daughter. And she and her sisters all agree that someone has to keep an eye on their mother, who might be facing the beginnings of Alzheimer’s. But when someone lurking in the woods behind the cabins she’s fixing up for vacationers escalates into the discovery of human remains buried outside one of them, Janna begins to wonder if this was such a great idea after all. Michael Robertson hopes that a change of scenery will be good for his teenaged son, and he hopes the new job as sheriff in this small town will be a nice change of pace for him. But when trouble drops on the doorstep of the lodge where he’s staying for the summer, he has new worries to keep him occupied. And they all seem to focus around the too-attractive owner who is in over her head in a decades-old mystery. Hard Evidence is a fast-moving romantic suspense that will keep the pages turning. I instantly liked Janna and her daughter as well as Michael and his son. The character development was great—I got to know them all very quickly and very well. In fact, my only complaint is that the word count of this line limited the depth of them all. I felt as though much more could have been done with them had the author had more time in which to delve into their histories and hopes for the future. Roxanne Rustand is no stranger to romance, though this is her first move in inspirational, and I’m looking forward to seeing a lot more from her in the future. Hard Evidence is the first of a trilogy about the McAllister sisters, and I’m anxious to get the next installment and get to know the family better. Love Inspired readers will enjoy this new voice in the line, and any lovers of romantic suspense will want to see what Roxanne Rustand has created for them now. Publisher: Love Inspired Suspense |
