Clint Rollins never expected that a gunshot wound could save his life—until a trip to the hospital for treatment reveals a cancer already well progressed. An agent in the FBI’s Crimes Against Children Unit, Clint is used to standing strong and tall against evil and adversity. So how is he supposed to handle being weak from chemo? Is it going to keep him from tracking down the serial kidnapper on the loose? Sara knows all about the trials associated with cancer—but from the doctor’s side of the oncologist’s desk. All her faith and wisdom seem to go out the window when it’s her husband facing cancer. Can she hold onto a God who would let this happen? Can she support Clint as she should, even when his suspicions about the ongoing kidnapping case seem crazy? Healing Promises is a depth-probing look into the lives of a couple who are used to being the healers and heroes but are suddenly the ones in need of help. Amy Wallace does a phenomenal job of developing her hero and heroine while still maintaining a quick pace through the suspense and secondary characters. Though the book deals with serious issues that are often sobering, hope is still woven through the pages in a message not to be forgotten. I expected great things from this sequel to Ransomed Dreams, and I wasn’t disappointed. Readers of the first will not want to miss this follow-up, but Healing Promises also stands on its own without a wobble. Lovers of romantic suspense will definitely want to add this one to their bookshelves!
